My approach to evaluation is centered in collaboration, equity, and learning. Two frameworks drive my work: (a) culturally-responsive evaluation (Hood, 1998) where the cultural context of a program is fully taken into account and (b) deliberative democratic evaluation (House & Howe, 1999) which focuses on the key principles of inclusion, dialogue, and deliberation. I believe it is important to hear from all stakeholders, and pay attention to whose voices are heard and whose voices are missing. Although my role differs across projects, my commitment to equity and inclusion remains centered in my work.
